Learning comes alive with Glen Lake Go!

Glen Lake Elementary is a K-5 school within the Hopkins Public Schools District, located in the city of Minnetonka. In the 2024-25 school year, we served just over 400 students and their families. At Glen Lake, students are empowered to learn through hands-on experiences rather than relying solely on lectures or textbooks. Through the Glen Lake Go! program, students engage in multiple immersive experiences and field trips each year, bringing learning to life. These real-world interactions are designed to create learning experiences that are educational, fun and relevant.

School House System

Building Community and Multiage Connections

At Glen Lake, every new student is welcomed into one of four School Houses: Amistad, Reuver, Altruismo, or Isibindi. This system fosters meaningful connections and a sense of community among students of all ages. The multi-age interactions allow younger students to learn from their older peers while providing older students with opportunities to develop leadership skills. Once a month, students come together with their Housemates from all grade levels for engaging and enjoyable gatherings. The School House system enhances the strong sense of community and family at Glen Lake, offering each student a built-in support network.

Compassion in Action

A Culture of Authentic Inclusion

Glen Lake is proud to host the elementary COMPASS program, a district initiative that serves students with multiple disabilities and complex medical needs. The school has fostered a culture of intentional inclusion, ensuring that students with disabilities participate in as many class activities as possible. At Glen Lake, we believe inclusion nurtures kindness, empathy, and respect, helping all students develop these essential skills while creating an environment where everyone truly belongs.

Our accessible playground stands as a testament to this commitment. This extraordinary space is the result of a student-led initiative inspired by the vision of kids of all abilities playing together. Glen Lake students galvanized the community, engaging local businesses and forming impactful partnerships that earned national recognition. Through their determination and creativity, they raised an incredible $860,000, turning their dream into a reality and leaving a lasting legacy of inclusion and community spirit.
