Glen Lake Knights Chess Club

Chess Club meets most Friday afternoons in the Media Center from 2:20-3:10pm. Registration occurs at the beginning of the school year, but email glenlakechessclub@gmail.com for special requests.

We offer chess club to all students for the full season, from October-March 2023 (starting on October 27th). We split the club into two groups throughout the school (K-1 and 2-5) to allow students to spread out and learn at an age-appropriate pace. For students signing up for chess club grade 2 and higher we please ask they have a basic understanding of the game going in (know how to move the pieces).

We need parent volunteers in order to continue to offer chess club. Knowledge of the game is helpful, but not required. We would love to have you join us! 

To support the club, we ask for an optional $10-20 donation for the year. You can donate from the link on the website.

75-120 students participate in chess club each year at Glen Lake! The club continues to have one primary goal: to have fun playing chess. There are many other benefits as well! These include things such as building new friendships, team and school spirit, cognitive benefit, and competitive interaction if desired.
