Changes to the 2021-22 Calendar

In order to provide much needed professional development and instructional planning time for our elementary teachers, we will be canceling the remaining Thursday late starts for the year and replacing them with all-day professional learning days on the Fridays following the originally scheduled late start. An outline of the change is provided below:

Cancel the following K-6 late starts (school on these days will start at the regular time) Replace with Professional Learning Fridays (no school for K-6)
  • Thursday, January 13, 2022

  • Thursday, March 10, 2022

  • Thursday, May 5, 2022

  • Friday, January 14, 2022

  • Friday, March 11, 2022

  • Friday, May 6, 2022

For a fee, Hopkins will offer childcare options during these three non-school days. Tuition assistance will be available. Our Kids & Co. childcare program will send out a follow-up communication with more details.

We know that adding three non-school days to the calendar is a potential burden for families. However, given the immense challenges of this school year and the significant transformations ahead, it’s imperative that we provide our educators with the time they need for professional development and instructional planning time. Please know that even with this change, we will still far exceed the minimum number of instructional hours for K-6 students as required by the state of Minnesota.
