The Hopkins School Board held its annual organizational meeting Tuesday, Jan. 13, marking the start of the board’s work for the year and welcoming new and returning members.
Rachel Hartland was sworn in for her second term on the board. Sara Wilhelm Garbers and Johanna Hyman were sworn in for their first terms. The boardroom was filled with family members and supporters who attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Following the ceremony, the board elected officers for the year. Shannon Andreson was nominated and re-elected to serve as chair by a 5–2 vote. Director Kaj Thompson was also nominated for the chair position.
Brooke Ann Roper was nominated and unanimously elected vice chair. Rachel Hartland was unanimously re-elected to serve as treasurer, and Sara Wilhelm Garbers was unanimously elected clerk.
Board members also selected the community groups, committees, and organizations they will serve as liaisons to during the coming year, continuing the board’s commitment to community connection and engagement.
